We’ve had reliable PFAS-free runs with Bionic-Finish Eco on high-density nylon, but only after upping pick count and adding a light calender to keep spray ratings after 5 washes. Did you audit auxiliaries — our “mystery hits” were a fluorinated antifoam and PTFE depth filters; swapping to a silicone defoamer and PP media (plus your HDPE bottle tip, @hernandez15) cleared wastewater. If you need a belt-and-suspenders approach, keep a C0-only wet end and replace any PTFE hose liners to keep ghosts out.
On nylon/elastane, HeiQ Eco Dry held up once we added a mild corona pre-treat and a tiny blocked isocyanate crosslinker; we kept spray 90 after 5 home washes and wastewater was <LOQ by CIC. Building on @hannah_b89’s point, watch labware — swap PTFE-lined septa and syringe filters for PES/PP and go “fluorine-free antifoam” in the pad bath to kill the last blips. With Jan 1, 2025 looming, the unsexy () fix that finally made our “PFAS-free” runs pass third-party wastewater was a full line decon: caustic boil-out and swapping PTFE gaskets/hoses for EPDM, plus two sacrificial C0 lots to purge carryover. On poly/cotton workwear, a dendrimer–PU finish (BIONIC-FINISH ECO–type) after an enzyme desize and 160°C/2 min cure — heat is the secret sauce — kept spray at 80+ through 10 home cycles and cleared SGS wastewater; avoid cationic softeners pre-pad and add a low-vis nonionic silicone post-cure. @victoria_lee88 we also aligned to ZDHC Wastewater Guidelines for sign-off (https://www.roadmaptozero.com), and I’m curious if anyone’s gotten better add-on control with foam application versus pad–dry–cure.
