Who actually sets front-row seating

In architecture, I wrangle timelines, 3D models, and literal seating charts; it got me wondering who decides front-row order at runway shows. Is there a standard (PR team vs the house, A–Z rows, 15-minute turnover) or a historical reason celebs sit opposite buyers?

At most shows I’ve worked, the final front row is set by the house PR’s ‘seat captain’ in the 20 minutes before doors, not the designer, juggling VIP handlers, sponsor quotas, and camera sightlines. If you want to read the logic, stand opposite the photo pit and you’ll see celebs placed on the livestream side while big buyers anchor the pit side for cutaway shots. Caveat: indie or off-calendar shows often let the producer call it, and the A-Z rows mean nothing once the ‘sticker book’ comes out.
